Biodiesel Glycerin Valorization into Oxygenated Fuel Additives
نویسندگان
چکیده
Current industrial methods of biodiesel production lead to an excess crude glycerin which requires costly purification before commercialization. Production oxygenated fuel additives is a potential route for valorization. Glycerin acetylation was carried out over heterogeneous acid catalysts (15%, glycerol weight basis) using glacial acetic (molar ratio = 9). The catalysts, containing different amounts phosphate species (P/Si from 10 20 atomic ratio), were prepared by wet impregnation commercial silica with aqueous solutions diammonium and ortho-phosphoric acid. X-ray diffraction patterns calcined solids presented amorphous like raw silica. presented, at 120 °C, conversion higher than 89.5% after 1 h reaction, been diacetin the major product, triacetin selectivities lower 26.1%. Diacetin selectivity found be almost invariant catalyst acidity thus underlining relevance porosity due large acetins molecules sizes. slow rate diffusion in narrow pores might responsible relatively low yield obtained. Surface showed leaching reaction medium showing high stability.

This study investigates the effects of ethanol-blended gasoline with oxygenated additives on a multi – cylinder Spark Ignition (SI) Engine. The experiments were conducted in two stages. In stage I, the test fuels were prepared using 99.9% pure ethanol and gasoline with a cycloheptanol blend, in the ratio of E69.5 + 0.5 cycloheptanol, E64.6 + 0.4 cycloheptanol, E59.7 + 0.3 cycloheptanol, E49.8 +...
متن کاملSynthesis of oxygenated fuel additives via the solventless etherification of glycerol.
The synthesis of oxygenated fuel additives via solvent freebase-catalyzed etherification of glycerol is reported. The products of glycerol etherification arediglycerol (DG) and triglycerol (TG) with DG being the favorable one. The catalytic activity of different homogeneous alkali catalysts (LiOH, NaOH, KOH and Na(2)CO(3)) was investigated during the glycerol etherification process. LiOH exhibi...
